Our Premier Event in June '07 is a Master Class

‘How to Audition for Musical Theatre’.

As a performer, I have often attended classes by visiting professional actors/singers and find them a valuable learning tool. Experienced performers have a wealth of knowledge to share given the right platform and a master class can provide such a forum. It is very important that skills honed over many years of performing can be passed on to new generations. There are many professionals who understand this. One such person is Toni Lamond; Ms Lamond is a very generous performer and fully believes in sharing her many years of experience and expertise with younger performers.

Toni Lamond was born into Vaudeville Royalty. Her parents were stars of the Tivoli Circuit and she has been a performer since the age of ten. Ms Lamond has stared in countless musicals here and abroad, helped pioneer Australian TV, worked in film, written books and recorded cd’s.  Ms Lamond is still a busy performer and has recently enjoyed a sold out season in Sydney of her successful 2006 Adelaide Cabaret show ‘TIMES OF MY LIFE’. She is also featured in the movie ‘RAZZLE DAZZLE’ currently showing in cinemas. Ms Lamond has over the years run various master classes at NIDA, WAPPA and the inaugural 2002 Adelaide Cabaret Festival. This is a wonderful opportunity for any performing artist; young or not so, to learn from a ‘Real Trooper’.

The event will be held at 12.30pm on Monday 11th June 2007 (public holiday) and ties in with the opening weekend of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. There will be four local performers that Ms Lamond will listen to and critique; 2 adults & 2 students. The class will be conducted in Gillingham Hall, located at Annesley College, 89 Greenhill Rd. Wayville. Cost for the 90min class is $20 Adults & $15 Students.

All profits for this event are being donated to The CO-ID Organisation: Co-Operation in Development - Charity# CH1324; an Australian based charity building schools in one of the poorest areas of Bangladesh; Bhola Island in the Ganges Delta. With the co-operation of local residents, CO-ID provides basic education to all religious sectors of the community and provides equal opportunities to both sexes in the classroom. (www.fredhyde.org)
